Where overpaid duty usually hides
Most importers never look back at what they've already paid. These are the three places we check first.
Entries filed with the wrong details
A tariff code, country of origin or value entered incorrectly can mean you paid more duty than you owed. CBSA refunds the difference when it's corrected within the time limits.
Surtaxes you may not have to pay
Some goods caught by Canada's recent surtaxes qualify for remission. We check whether yours do and prepare the request.
Duty on goods that leave Canada again
If imported goods or materials are later exported, the duty paid on them can often be recovered through drawback.
How it works
You don't need to dig through files. Your customs broker already has the data.
-
Share your import records
You sign an authorization, and your broker sends us your entry data.
-
We review and file
We check every line, show you what's recoverable, and file the claims once you approve.
-
You get the refund
The refund is paid to you. We invoice our share only after it arrives.
What it costs
You'll know the terms in writing before any work starts.
No recovery, no fee
For refund recovery, our fee is a share of the money you actually get back. If nothing comes back, you owe nothing.
Free first review
A 15-minute call to see whether your imports are worth a full review.
Remission and monitoring
Remission requests and ongoing monthly monitoring are flat fees, quoted upfront.
Built for manufacturers without a trade department
We work with Ontario manufacturers and importers, typically with $10M to $200M in revenue, who bring in steel, aluminum or other goods hit by recent tariffs.
If no one on your team owns customs and trade, you're who we built this for.
Your customs broker files what you give them. Going back to check for overpayments usually isn't part of that job. It's ours.
